RT Last year, NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope found a doughnut-shaped ring of Saturn invisible to most telescopes.
this helps.
Fixed to a tripod, a camera can record graceful trails
A few telescope shops sell refubished telescopes – that might be your best bet for a decent scope under $100. Don't go to WalMart!
Actually, if that's your budget, I'd recommend a good pair of binoculars instead. You can see as much as you could with a small telescope, and you're not paying for all the extras like eyepieces and mounts.
I believe Mars reached it's brightest point a few weeks ago, but it will be back around in a few years. Plus, you'd be hard-pressed to notice a difference in brightness without a big scope. With a pair of binoculars or a telescope smaller than an 8-inch diameter mirror, you're not going to be able to see much of Mars besides the disk. No polar caps or dust storms.

I don't know what your budget is, so if this suggestion is too costly edit your Q.
This is a very good pod, so I've heard.
It's advantage is the low level adapter. It's a must if you shoot macro. You can get down to ground level and still use your tripod.
It's supposed to support up to 13 lbs of equipment.
If you're on a budget, this one: is apparently quite good, meaning that it's not too flimsy and can handle 11 lbs of equipment.
There is no "best" tripod.
Just a few things to look for when your shopping for one. How much weight it can handle, is it sturdy (you don't want the thing carping out on you and losing a leg in the middle of a shoot), how versatile it is (if it doesn't reach much past a couple of feet…..well…), it's weight and portability (if it's heavy and cumbersome to carry around you'll find you'll never use it unless you use it specifically in a studio), the head of the tripod (you want an easy mount, but not one so easy that it can turn on you at any moment and have your equipment fall to the ground, and you want some versatility in the head so that you can maneuver your camera easily)
You might want to check out your local photo shop. See what they recommend. Often times these local guys have great deals on used equipment such as tripods.

Not sure about a plasma but on an old CRTube type it means the horizontal sweep is faulty , and you get the whole picture in one vertical line . The other way the picture is created is with the vertical sweep , and when this is faulty the screen would show a narrow line in the horizontal . Think of a scan and update of the pixels up and across several hundred times a second . That is how the picture is created.
I know that didn't help much but might convince you to seek professional help .
Oh I know , a hello cost $300 .
